We must also note that Revelation is much the same way. It starts with a greeting from John (the scribe, so to speak). It then starts in with the messages to the angels of the churches. Where we start our time line however is at the opening of the scroll (Rev. 6:1). Again, Revelations account of the scroll retraces and adds more details to events that it has already mentioned. The seven seals for example can be looked at as a sort of index for what the scroll contains. the seven trumpets are all contained within the seventh seal. This would presumably leave us to start in again with Revelations Chapter 12 as the beginning of the opened scroll.
The following is showing the chronological order of the end times in refferance between the events as recorded in Matthew 24 and Revelations.

And he excersises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he decieves those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do inthe sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast that was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. |

So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. When you do a study on Revelations and the end time. I am sure that you will find (as I have) that the rapture is definately coming at the end of the tribulation. The word rapture is not really mentioned in the bible. However the idea of it (as being the gathering of Christ's people to Him at the time of His return) certainly is. This rapture of the body of Christ, however is at the return of Christ, and the return of Christ is plainly marked as being at the end (and only the end) of what we have come to know as the great tribulation period. There is no third coming of Christ! Christ reigns eternal at the second coming. There is a thousand year reign of Christ between his second coming (with the first ressurection) and the end of the world at judgement day (and the second ressurection). Then there comes a new heaven and a new earth. This is clearly stated in the account of Revelations.
The next time table of chronological events will be of Revelations compared within the book itself.
